7 Mar 2025

The FIA’s United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) Campaign had the privilege of joining FIFA, Signify, Coimisiún na Meán, Clark Hill Law, and other leading organisations at Dublin City University’s Online Harm in Sport Symposium in Dublin in February 2025. This important event brought together some of the most influential voices in the global online abuse community to share their insights and strategies for tackling online hate in sport.

The UAOA campaign, launched by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, is dedicated to researching and developing effective solutions to safeguard and protect all those involved in sport. At the symposium, we were pleased to present the findings from the UAOA 2025 Barometer Report, which provides critical data and analysis on the current state of online abuse in sport. Additionally, the event explored the role of rapidly evolving AI technologies in protecting competitors, officials, and others from online threats.

The shared commitment and endeavour among attendees highlighted the urgency of addressing online abuse and ensuring that sport remains a safe environment for everyone.

We invite you to explore the key presentations from UAOA, FIFA, Clark Hill, and others, which are available below. Additionally, we are pleased to share an insightful podcast featuring Professor David Hassan from FIA University in conversation with Tech Radio Ireland, where he delves deeper into the key themes and takeaways from the symposium.

Together, we can drive change and protect the integrity of sport from the growing challenge of online abuse.
